The Libertarian Plan for Success

image

What's the plan? In the next seven years we can run the government. In 2017 and 2018, we can win at the local level (we are already doing it), building our campaign infrastructure.

In 2019 and 2020 we can win at the state level, learning from our campaigns in 2017/2018. During these years the "top of the ticket", which gets the most press, focuses on being a bull horn for the "down ticket" to get them elected. Our 2020 Presidential ticket will get press and they MUST focus on helping the down ticket.

In 2022 and 2024 we will have had elected officials governing and now they will trumpet our "top of the ticket" so we can win at the federal level. Imagine if by 2024 we had just two senators. The liberty-minded Reps and Dems would happily join us and create a true voting block that would control the Senate! We would have infrastructure, local and state officials and we could make real change in the Senate. (And perhaps in the House depending upon how we did there.)

I don't want usurpers coming over and taking over our party. I want us to build real culture and infrastructure so that when they come, they will join our homegrown leaders and make a powerful principled party. Let them come in 2022 and 2024, because that's when we will be ready to absorb them without losing who we are.

In 2028 we could take the Presidency and turn this country completely around. Yes, this is bold and optimistic, but I see the seeds already. I'm trying to help nurture them at conventions all over the country. But I need your help. It will take us all working to get people elected, building our grassroots team and having hundreds and hundreds of conversations.

I know that many still think we have no chance. They are wrong. Our future is bright. Please join me.

Libertarianism and Self-Esteem

image

In this lecture given at a Libertarian Party of California event in 2000, Branden talks about the connection between the workings of free-market capitalism, the self-esteem movement, and the Information Age. In his words, "entitlement robs people of the sense of self-reliance" and the self-esteem that comes with that sense of independence.
